Whispers of the Arboreal : Susurros de la arbórea

"Whispers of the Trees" delves into the relationship between nature and the female body, particularly within the rich biodiversity of Asturias, Spain. The project aims to merge the female form with the Asturian native trees, symbolising strength, fragility, exploitation and resilience. Focusing on a selection of iconic native trees, the project highlights their symbolism of resistance, rootedness and intertwined branches, mirroring the strength, endurance, resilience and vulnerability of women. Each artwork uses vibrant colours amidst intricate pencil strokes to draw attention while focusing on the female body, through symbolic language such as the growth of trees, roots and fruits, the project highlights the vitality of both nature and the female form.

The project's objectives include selling the original artworks, limited numbered and signed museum-quality reproductions, and postcard sets to spark dialogue and reflection on shared characteristics between nature and women. This visual juxtaposition encourages contemplation on the symbiotic relationship between women and their environment, ultimately, raising awareness of Asturian flora's vulnerability and its intimate connection with the vulnerability and strength of the female body.

By utilizing local language and cultural symbolism in the reproductions and postcards, the project bridges past and present, linking contemporary art with Asturian heritage and the rootedness of trees, fostering a deeper connection to the region's identity and environmental stewardship.

"Susurros de la Arbórea" profundiza en la relación entre la naturaleza y el cuerpo femenino, particularmente dentro de la rica biodiversidad de Asturias, España. El proyecto pretende fusionar la forma femenina con los árboles autóctonos asturianos, que simbolizan fuerza, fragilidad, explotación y resiliencia. Centrándose en una selección de árboles nativos icónicos, el proyecto destaca su simbolismo de resistencia, arraigo y ramas entrelazadas, reflejando la fuerza, la resistencia y la vulnerabilidad de las mujeres. Cada pieza utiliza colores vibrantes en medio de intrincados trazos de lápiz para llamar la atención centrándose en el cuerpo femenino, a través de un lenguaje simbólico como el crecimiento de los árboles, las raíces y los frutos, el proyecto subraya la vitalidad tanto de la naturaleza como de la forma femenina.

Los objetivos del proyecto incluyen vender las obras de arte originales, reproducciones limitadas numeradas y firmadas de calidad museo, y sets de postales para generar diálogo y reflexión sobre las características compartidas entre la naturaleza y las mujeres. Esta yuxtaposición visual incita a la contemplación de la relación simbiótica entre la mujer y su entorno, concienciando así sobre la vulnerabilidad de la flora asturiana y su íntima conexión con la vulnerabilidad y fortaleza del cuerpo femenino.

Al utilizar el lenguaje local y el simbolismo cultural en las reproducciones y postales, el proyecto crea un puente entre el pasado y el presente, vinculando el arte contemporáneo con la herencia asturiana y el arraigo de los árboles, fomentando una conexión más profunda con la identidad y el cuidado ambiental de la región.
